This month, we are so excited to have Carol Monson as our guest designer! Her work is fabulous!! Carol’s pages are simple, yet are filled with lots of small details. They are just stunning! I know you will love them as much as we do.

Here is what Carol had to say about herself:

Hi! I’m Carol Monson. I live in Las Vegas, Nevada with my husband, Doug of 18 years and our 4 children; Nathan 14, Kristen 11, Samantha 9, and Jack 6.   I am so grateful I get to be at home and raise my children.  When I'm not chasing them around you can find me at my scrap table.  I started scrap booking about 14 years ago and love it more today than ever. I’ve been involved with some form of crafting my entire life and find that making stuff makes me sane. My other hobbies include photography, sewing, decorating, and reading. I currently design for Get Picky Sketch Blog and My Scrapbook Nook Kit Club. I've been fortunate enough to be published in Scrapbook Trends Magazine, Scrapstreet Ezine and a Memory Makers Book

I am tickled pink to be the guest designer here at Websters Pages and want to thank them so much for this opportunity.

Carol worked with the Everyday Poetry and Sunday Picnic lines. Just check these out. They are absolutely lovely!

DAY 1

For anyone who knows me they know I love yellow, in fact you'll find sprinkles of it throughout most of my work ;)  So obviously I loved the large yellow pattern on Little Bird Told Me and couldn't help but focus on that.  I decided to do a tone on tone pattern to add dimension and interest.  The top border didn't quite fit my theme but the phrases on the Be Open piece were a perfect match for this layout about my daughters first day at her new school.  I also took apart one of the Little Princess Petals and used just the white pieces to set my butterfly on.

I FEEL PRETTY

I love the bright colors that are sprinkled throughout Everyday Poetry and the unexpected pop that they give this line.  I decided to pull those out and let them do the talking.  I added some bling and removed the green pearls and replaced them with just a few pink ones.  Since I rarely leave things as they are I also took one of the doilies apart and used it as a piece of trim under my pictures.  My daughter loves the movie West Side Story, which was the inspiration for my title: “I feel pretty....and I pity anyone who isn't me today.”  ;)

TELL ME YOUR THOUGHTS

One of the things I love about Webster’s are the all the fun little surprises that are found in their papers.  The different patterns and images are wonderful.  I loved the image with the fairy and frog on Your Thoughts paper With that as my starting point I decided to go with a pink and green color scheme.   These pictures of my daughter beg the question, tell me your thoughts, she is full of spunky ideas.  I kept things pretty simple wanting those images to be the focal point.

YOU ARE MY FAVORITE WORK OF ART

Once again I found an image on the Little Bird Told Me paper of the butterflies and thought it would make a cute tag.  It went well with the botanical feel of the Blanket of Poppies paper in Sunday Picnic.  With my large cluster to the right I decided to balance out the left side with a thin pop of orange and larger butterfly.

PRETTY LIL' THING

For this layout I was inspired by my sweet daughter.  I wanted to keep things very dainty and sweet just like her ;)  I used a portion of the diecut paper as the base for my photo cluster.  I also cut apart one of the bloomers and used the fabric as a ribbon on a button, thread and doily cluster.

PEACE OUT

I had so much fun with this layout!  Sunday Picnic has a lot of fun colors in it and I thought they were perfect for this crazy picture of my little boy Jack.  I wanted to keep with the circus theme so I cut the circles off the Fly a Kite paper and created a banner with them along with the green flag.  I also cut out my title on my electronic cutter.

GET WELL SOON

When it comes to cards I usually keep things pretty simple.  These two papers, Picnic Basket & Poppy Fields were some of my favorites so I kept the focus on them with minimal embellishments.

As always, the design team was able to do a lift of one of Carol’s pages. Here are the ones we had to choose from:

Here is what we came up with:

Kay: What I loved about Carol's layout was the idea of the banners towards the bottom of the page. I also was inspired by the use of the three photos, and the anchor rectangle of paper at the base of the photos. I pretty much straight up lifted the whole thing, I loved it so much!

Jaz: So inspired by Carol’s layout “20 Ten”.  The color palette she uses is so pretty. ..and then the details of the butterfly and the banner...my o my! I had so much fun lifting this page! Thank you Carol for your lovely inspiration ;)

Julie: I really was inspired by the row of photos and layers and layers of goodies Carol had across her page!

Larissa: Carol has an amazing style in which every element pops! Inspired by her page 20ten, I scraplifted her photo placement and banner. Congrats Carol on being WP´s GDT!

Stacey: I love how Carol's pages aren't linear...she adds rounded details and random touches that give her pages so much interest. I replicated that along the bottom of my photos.

Gabi: Carol has such a fun and beautiful style of scrapping! I was inspired by her layout “20 Ten”.  I love her use of multiple photos to tell her story and I mimicked the page design, placing the photos in the center and creating a design element in the top right corner.

Gerry: I was inspired to create this layout by Carol`s awesome layout "I`ve been dreaming". Loved the design, use of white space and terrific embellishments. Thank you so much for the inspiration!

Tomoko: love how Carol uses white space in her layouts so perfectly. I was inspired by one of the layouts by Carol "20 Ten". How Carol placed every detail in her page is gorgeous and so perfectly balanced! Thank you so much for the inspiration!!

Em: I chose to lift the design of Carols Christmas layout and was inspired to use the blue/grey/yellow color combination of the “20 Ten” page. Carol, you really inspired me with your beautiful work...thank you so much! Congratulations on being this months GDT!

Jill: I am inspired by Carol’s simple and whimsical style. I love the little details she adds by layering. Congrats, Carol!

Jamie:I chose to lift Carol's "I've Been Dreaming Page".  I loved her use of white space and the strip of paper separating the two photos.  I was also inspired by her mixed coloured title and I can also never pass up the opportunity to use a tag on my pages:-)

Anabelle: I was so inspired by all of Carol's pages! I chose to use “Christmastime in the City” for my lift. Rather than having a row of photos, I reversed the design and added a row of cards with one photo. I LOVE how she created a banner with lots of little bits and pieces

I’m sure you were as inspired by Carol’s work as we were. Her details and designs are just superb. We are so glad that she is here with us this month!
