Hi All,

I have collected Websters papers for a while now and when it comes to using them I don't know what to do!! I am very much a minimalist in my layouts but I love what I see here and wish I knew how to put it all together to make the beautiful embellished pages.  So as a beginner using websters papers and embellishments what would you suggest I do?? Please help as I would love to make beautiful embellished pages too!!

Thanks,

Shell

Hi Shell,

Welcome!! You've come to the right place! Webster's Clean and Simple papers sound like they are perfect for you as a 'basis' of your pages. But, the classic papers would be great to add embellishing. I love cutting elements from the papers and use them to create clusters with flowers and other small embellies.

One of the best things you can do is to pick a page that you like and try scraplifting it.  Check out the gallery here, as well as the blog. I know that there have been tutorials on it about layering and adding lots of details. That will give you a feel for how to design your own pages.

A few tips for embellishing would include:

*use foam adhesive to add dimension to your layers

*use journaling cards and smaller pieces of paper to layer under your photos

*add glitter or gems to your handcut images

*create flowers from the trim and add them to your pages (our DT member Gabrielle Pollaco has some wonderful tutorials on her blog for this http://gabriellepollacco.blogspot.com/)

Hope this helps! Enjoy the process and stay true to your style. :)

Welcome Shell! I couldn´t agree more with Anabelle. I simply love cutting Webster´s Pages papers images and I´m not afraid to do so... it´s so fun! I´m sure you´re gonna find a lot of inspiration here!!!

Welcome, Shell!!!

So happy you're here. :) I LOVE all of Anabelle's ideas...definitely a great place to start!!

I'm a fairly minimalist scrapper too and I like to do just a bit of layering and hand-cutting because the patterns are so pretty and they really pop!! :) I like that I can do as much or as little with embellishments as I want depending on the layout...

Can't wait to see what you come up with!!

:) Courtney

Anabelle definitely has some awesome suggestions. I definitely agree on the scraplifting~ when I was starting out, I spent a lot of time studying other people's work. And asking questions is always a great way to learn new things too! Additionally, there are new posts up on the Webster's Pages blog (http://websterspages.typepad.com) nearly every day of the week, filled with ideas for both the simple scrapper and the more embellished scrapper, including tips, tricks, and tutorials.

Read on and learn all you can! Hope to see your work shared here with us in the gallery :),

Hi Shell!  Sounds like these ladies have given you some fantastic tips :-)  I am very much a minimalist scrapper!  I agree with the others to start out "scraplifting" and checking out some of the super tutorials!  I find the hardest part is cutting into the gorgeous Webster's papers...so once you get past that hurdle you can start playing and having fun!
