She's FABULOUS...She's Trina McClune and she is our Guest Designer for the month of June! Hailing from the Land Down Under, Trina has a style that reflects her surroundings and is uniquely hers...and well we LOVE it! Let's get to know a bit more about Trina in her own words:
Hey there, I’m Trina! A Kiwi scrapbooker from ‘down under’. I live in Auckland, NZ. And have done most of my life. I have 3 young children and a very supportive husband (who doesn’t mind all the scrapbooking that goes on). We also have a cat named Toast, 6 chickens and lovely big vegetable gardens. Sounds like we live in the countryside, but no. We’re just a few minutes from the city.
Like many women I started to scrapbook for real, when I was pregnant. I’d always loved photos, but when I found my first scrapbook shop, I was amazed and thrilled at the possibilities that opened up before me.
My main reason for starting to scrapbook was to record my memories (I have a terrible memory! Grin). So you’ll always find journaling on my page. If not on the front, then handwritten on the back. And sometimes I figure if I like the way a page is looking, without journaling but still want it, I can add it to the back without disrupting the aesthetics on the front.
As I started to dedicate time to my new hobby. I found online forums, magazines and the opportunity to grow through online communities like “inspireME”.
I loved the friendships and sharing that was part of my new hobby. And I loved that I could challenge myself to ‘get published’ or take part in a set challenge. As a stay at home Mum it was these things that helped me through some of those hard early days of starting and raising a family.
I’ve been using Websters for a few years now, and just adore their products. It’s so versatile. Filled with gorgeous ‘girly’ patterns, and stunning masculine lines. Both of which work for my children. Whew! As they are my main inspiration when it comes to my pages.
One of my favourite use of Websters Patterned Papers is to hand cut all the beautiful designs and patterns. Layering them on top and beside each other. Creating my own designs with Websters help.... which is part of my scrapbooking ‘style’ . In many of my layouts you’ll see lots of clusters, layers, distressing, inking, stitching, flowers and small pictures.
I also love to create sketches, and teach. I love that I can give back a little bit to those in my classes. And usually find that I come away with a new tip or technique too. So much fun.
I love the two lines I was given to work with. Admittedly I was a little worried about the nautical theme of Yacht Club, but found it extremely easy to use, and not just for nautical themes. Country Estate could have been made with me in mind. Ahhhh, all those gorgeous flowers..... You’ll see a few different items from me, and I hope you enjoy them.
Thank you so much Websters for giving me this fabulous opportunity. I feel extremely privileged to be asked to do this and thank you for allowing you to share a little bit of me right here!
And now that we know more personally about Trina, let's see some of her gorgeous work. We sent Trina our Yacht Club and Country Estate lines to create with...here is what her creative mind came up with:
Doesn't she have such a great, crisp, clean style??You can find EVEN MORE of her projects in her gallery HERE!!! I love her fresh approach and SO does our Design Team. This month our DT was asked to lift one of the Trina's following projects:
and here are their interpretations of these awesome layouts:
Jaz: Trina's clean and simple style is attractive, charming and well-balanced. I work on an altered Birthday Box, embellishing on top of 3 strips of bloomers ;) And my galfriend loves it ;) so thank you Trina for your inspiration ;)
Larissa: Inspired by Trina´s "Aiututaki"; layout I created this one. I was inspired by her beautiful and attaractive clean & simple design which I tried to reproduce. Congrats on the GDT Trina!
Iris: I was inspired by Trina’s clean but striking layouts. Her use of white space coupled with beautiful clustered embellishments create a classic and stunning look on her pages!
Julie: Trina's layout is a perfect one for me to lift as I am working on more white space and she certainly achieves white space!
Ivana: I love Trina's use of white space, her perfectly harmonized color choices and graphic visual appeal. I focused on using these elements in my layout! Thanks so much for the inspiration, Trina!
Emma: Oh Trina, I loved this layout so much I had to honour it my own version. I really struggled with the whitespace....but loved th layering. I love your work Trina and congratulations on being June's guest designer!
Steph: I have always loved Trina's beautiful collage design style, and use of white space. I have used a gorgeous hybrid frame, more details of which I will post in the gallery. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to lift you Trina, you are such a gifted artist.
Gabi: I adore Trina's scrapping style but negative space designs don't come easy to me, I have to show great restraint and stop myself from adding more! I used Trina's page called 'Cousins' as inspiration for this l/o, it really helped in keeping me focused on the idea that less is more. Thanks Trina for sharing your beautiful designs!
Stacey: Trina uses white space so beautifully...I was inspired by her horizontal design that had so much texture!
Angella: Inspired by Trina's work, I admire her use of white space and balance of colour... Very Talented creator!
Mitsue: I adore Trina's style, it is very elegant and beautiful. Just love how she created a "white space". Congrats on GDT, you are so talented, can't wait to see more!
Anabelle: I absolutely adore Trina's work. Not only is she super talented, but such a lovely person, too. Her use of white space is always wonderful and I love the elements she picks and how she layers them. I recolored a WP digi frame to use for my photo and used a similar design as her's.
Tomoko: I adore Trina's simple scrapbooking style!!! It is truly beautiful and I was inspired by her layout design. This layout became to be one of my favorites!! Thank you so much for sharing your lovely page with us, Trina!!
Emeline: Inspired by Trina, I was prompted to incorporate more breathing space on my layout and let the photo take centre stage..... thank you Trina for inspiring us this month.
Wow, wow, wow...and WOW again! What great takes of two incredibly inspiring layouts.
Thank you Trina for sharing your time and talents with us and for showing us that less truly is more! You have a knack for bringing out the best in each and every element that you put on your page and showcasing your pictures! Thanks for the inspiration!!!
